Beit Mery Hermitage
Welcome!
You have arrived at the Beit Mery Hermitage website. The present hermitage is in a house near Yakima. Sr. Jan moved to the diocese over ten years ago with the vision of providing a place where she can welcome others to enter the solitude of God. The land has been purchased but we need your help so that we make welcome those who desire to come aside for a while. Please pray for us.
Beit Mery Hermitage is a 501 C3 Non-Profit Corporation. All contributions are tax deductible.

The meaning of Beit Mery Hermitage
Beit Mery is Arabic for House of Mary. Sr. Jan chose the name for the hermitage 25 years ago. It is the name of a town east of Beirut in Lebanon. The village sits in the mountains just above the coast road that has been a major trade route from Asia Minor to Egypt throughout thousands of years. Every army from the Hittites to the Egyptians up to the present day has trooped down that road. It is a reminder to us to pray for all those who measure their safety by how far away the violence is, whether that is in Yakima, the Middle East, or other places of violence throughout the world. Beit Mery Hermitage is a place of peace in the midst of a violence torn world.
